Learning to sew your own clothes can be utterly life changing. Forget squeezing into ill-fitting garments which aren’t to your taste, or struggling to find anything in your size—once you can sew, you can make a whole closet of clothes, in any style or fabric, to fit your body.

But learning to sew can be intimidating if you’ve never picked up a needle, and even more so if you’re not in the size range of a lot of beginner patterns or sewing books. Having to learn sewing skills AND learn how to make patterns bigger can be overwhelming, and if you’re coming to sewing to help you feel better about your body, it can even end up making you feel worse.

Sewing the Curve will teach you how to sew a closet of gorgeous garments. Beginner-friendly, this book will take you from threading your machine to completing your first garment that fits and expresses your personal style. And, it comes with 6 patterns (worth over $130!) in sizes 12–32 and cup sizes C–H, so you can practice and master new skills on patterns made for bodies just like yours.

This book will be mailed from the USA. To order from Amazon or local booksellers, click here.

Sewing the Curve

Cashmerette’s Sewing the Curve is a beginning seamstress’ must have. Like all of Jenny’s instructions, it includes straightforward, clear & easy to follow instructions. Even though I’ve been sewing for decades, it’s been through Jenny’s how-tos that I’ve learned the fitting techniques that finally work for me. Having basic patterns included in the book is a welcomed, added bonus. Thanks, Jenny!

Perfect companion to Ahead of the Curve

A great range of simple patterns that are all wardrobe staples. I am an experienced sewer and I can use the patterns in this book as a great starting point for design creativity. I have already used the Elmley darted dress bodice to sew a one shoulder lined sequin dress. As a sloper it is a good design. The pictured dress has the flutter sleeve extended to wrist length with a trim of feathers. I added a waist seam and a self drafted half circle skirt.
Highly recommend this book to beginners as a starting point, then when you want expert and easy to understand fitting solutions, get 'Ahead of the Curve'. Thank you Jenny!

Sewing the Curve book

I have just finished reading Jenny's second book, "Sewing the Curve", and am starting the first pattern. I have picked up so many good habits from it and highly recommend this book for beginning sewers. Even though I am an experienced sewer, at 96 years old I have days of forgetting a lot and am trying to recharge my brain through Jenny's instructions! I intend to make all of the patterns that are part of this new book and appreciate the simplicity she displays for the beginners. I advise all users to add to their learning by going to the many videos she recommends, and the "s" icons for reviewing parts of the text in the "Sewing Skills 101" section. The sew-alongs in the videos are very helpful. The book is well worth the price. Thank you! Juanita Hall

I love your first book and find it very helpful but the second is dealing with patterns that are all too big for me. I'm mostly a 10 petite

Couldn’t Love this More!!

This is a great resource for the beginner, but also for more experienced sewists. The 6 patterns are awesome, basic patterns which can be easily hacked, and make the book worth every penny, even if you are more experienced at sewing. The sewalong videos on the Cashmerette site and YouTube are handy additions to already clear written instructions. Be sure to pair this with Ahead of the Curve for fitting, and more patterns!
